Nothing is more true than that statement. I have been a little lax over the last couple months with getting written stuff up but with the Christmas season as well as New Year’s and have been fighting artist block to get a crossover completed for this year for several shows that Black Box Comix is going to be attending.
There are several pieces of work in progress even as we speak.
This is one such project.

Lauren Elizabeth Toohey ate PlayDoh and crayons when she was a small child. This fertilized the creative seed that started to grow inside her. As she matured the creative seed then grew, and wormed its way out. She spit forth art, and never stopped spitting.

Halloween is here Again

blackbox13's picture

Here is a new piece that I am working on for a friend of mine from Darkslinger Comics. And I thought since he (the bear) was a pieced together I thought a scratchboard image of him would be appropriate here for Halloween.
He kinda Frankensteined together.
Aren’t we all?

Is there something in the air?

blackbox13's picture

Is there something in the air?
I have to wonder sometimes with all the cascading things going on right now with printing of artwork.
One of the worse things a comic creator and company or individual artist ever wants to ever hear from a printer is “You have corrupted files”.
Well this was something I as wanting to hear for anyone else let alone for myself but here it is.
The one thing is that everything is fixable (at least in the art field).
and that is one thing that I love about do artwork.
It can morphed and molded into what ever you want it to say or look.
But it can always be fixed.

A month gone by and New Stuff

blackbox13's picture

Well sports fans it has been nearly a month since I last posted and I have been under a great strain to get things done as well as move the office of Black Box Comix to a new location here in Portland Oregon.
Actually not that hard to do really when a lot of things are already done digitally but there are some new thing to rave about:

A comic shop grand opening

blackbox13's picture

One of the few things that I like when I have the chance is to check out a new comic shop that I never have been to. And Especially when you have been invited to show and sell your artwork in the process.
Yes, it is like taking candy from a baby but art whores are always gunning for the best way to get (easy) money back for their work. Today will be no different.
I would imagine that a comic shop would be like a street corner for vendors (whores) and collectors (the johns).
Of course I am sure that not everyone is in agreement about this but oh well, don’t be so damn touchy.
But again hanging out in a comic shop and being a nerd is always fun. And if I make some sales in the process of even better, that's what I am hoping for.

Work and Life

blackbox13's picture

Comic Book work especially the digital stuff, has been a up hill battle for me between working on traditional media and the commissions I have been doing for people lately. Home and real life BS has been making a huge indent on my productivity of art.
It’s been unfortunate that a character that I have a lot of love for has been taking the brunt of the this, always having to take a back seat to the flavor of the week
There are a lot of changes that will be coming up in the next several issues for him and now that I may have found a new editior that may actually do the work for me and not just do it when I chain them to a table and crack the whip, may actually improve my artistic output and with changes in the home living situation, and a place of my own, a small studio apartment,
